The health and safety of each of our guests is very important to us. All guests must have current vaccinations and be following the advice of their veterinarian for disease prevention and optimal health.

Documentation

Proof of valid vaccine’s from a veterinarian is required from each guest. If your pet requires an updated vaccination during or shortly after their upcoming stay then please make arrangements for the vaccination to be administered no less than 5 days before any grooming service or boarding time is scheduled. If this is not possible we may be able to make arrangements for a private area (grooming only) for an additional charge.

We can take Puppies only after they have had their 2nd round of vaccines and with a Bordatella vaccine. When getting thier vaccines, Puppies should not come to the hotel for at least 10 days following administration of their most recent vaccine.

Titers

You and /or your veterinarian may decide that your pet still has immunity despite them having received their last vaccines outside the vaccine manufacturers guidelines. When this occurs you may choose to perform blood tests and Titer Testing. Proof of immunity can be accepted with documentation from your veterinarian that clearly indicates a “valid until” date, i.e. your vet must provide a letter or document that says indicates a period of time they are happy to wait until either further testing or vaccine. A Titer test will not be accepted without an end date.

Please note Titer testing is not available for Bordatella and most causes of CIRDC (Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex). These will still need annual boosting even crossing Titer testing for Rabies innoculations.

Parasitic Control

During the flea/tick and heartworm season we do require all pets to be under veterinary supervised parasitic control. All pets are examined on arrival and any pets showing signs of fleas or ticks will receive treatment (at owners expense) for the protection and comfort of them and our other guests. While we do head to toe checks daily of our guests, please note that if a tick has attached itself and has not yet expanded, neither we nor you will be able to identify it until it increases in size. We will remove any ticks we are able to see when examining. A quality prescription medication from your Vetrinarian is the best form of defense.

Spey and Neutering

Because of the style of accommodation (hotel vs Kennel) we do not require our canine guests to be altered. However please be aware that we are only able to take females in heat at certain times of the year. Please alert staff if this situation develops and will be a factor while vacationing, we may need to change plans and extra fees will apply.

Daycare / Group Play considerations, while we do not have a hard and fast rule against intact participants, please be aware that as your dog ages the ability to safely incorporate them into group play drastically reduces. For that reason we do find it becomes a requirement between 1 and 2 years of age (if not earlier).

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, along with the American and Canadian Veterinary Medical Associations, advises that lack of socialization and training is a greater “life” risk than exposure to illness. We prioritize all around safety by requiring full vaccinations for dogs over 6 months old and offer special care and programs for puppies under 6 months, provided they have received their second round of Puppy vaccinations.
